A rental is underwritten before anyone drives out to see it.
Shorty watches the short-term-rental market in the North Carolina towns around Asheville. Each day it pulls the new listings based on your criteria, estimates what each one would earn as a rental, scores it against what you actually care about, and flags the problems worth knowing before you take a drive to look at the property.
Shorty is a private tool. Accounts are created by invitation only — there is no public sign-up. If you have an invitation, sign in at app.buyshorty.com or in the iOS app.
What it does
- Finds the listings A search each day across the towns you have chosen, filtered down to the ZIP codes that are actually in play, so you see new candidates soon after they list.
- Estimates the money Projected nightly rate, occupancy, and annual revenue for each property, turned into the numbers that decide it — cash-on-cash return, cap rate, and monthly cash flow at your own financing assumptions.
- Scores and flags Each listing is scored against your preferences and flagged for the things that quietly kill a deal: short-term-rental rules in that jurisdiction, flood exposure, steep or unpaved access, HOA restrictions.
- Decided together A shared shortlist your household votes on, rates, and comments in — plus a daily digest by email and a push when something worth looking at shows up.
The iOS app
Shorty is also an iPhone app for the same private accounts, so the daily digest and the shortlist are wherever you are. It shows the same data as the web app and signs in the same way — a code sent to your phone number. There is nothing to buy inside it and no advertising in it.
What it is not
Shorty is a research tool, not advice. Its revenue figures are estimates derived from third-party market data, its scores reflect preferences you set yourself, and its regulatory flags are a prompt to go and check the local rules — not a determination that a property may be rented short-term. Nothing here is investment, tax, or legal advice. Verify anything you plan to act on with the people licensed to tell you.
